Family relationships play a pivotal role in our mental health. Family does not always only include those related by blood or marriage but can also consist of those who love and support you. In family therapy, the therapist’s goal is to strengthen the family. This is done in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental setting where family members can be vulnerable and authentic. The therapist will identify emotional and behavioral patterns that are causing damage to the family bond. Then the therapist works with the family to change negative behaviors, improve communication and reduce conflict.
